THE YOGA SHALA
We feel extremely lucky to have had the opportunity to build our own yoga shala and we have strived to create a beautiful, light filled space we can share with others. With stunning views overlooking the olive groves and countryside, the space is calming and peaceful, to allow for a deeper connection with one’s practice. The yoga shala has been rebuilt to include a new wooden floor, windows, insulated roof and a pellet stove for the cooler winter months.
Fully equipped with blocks, bolsters, blankets, and yoga mats for up to 12 practicing students.
WELCOME TO OUR CENTRE
YogApulia is a boutique retreat centre exclusively for yoga and meditation practice, set up and run by dedicated Ashtanga yoga practitioners Mark & Nicola. Our intention is to create an intimate space in tune with the natural rhythm of nature and incorporating principles of permaculture, where guests can escape from the demands of the modern world to deepen their practice in the beautiful, peaceful setting of the Valle d’Itria in Apulia, Italy. We look to incorporate the fundamental principles of yoga into everything we do, including living sustainably with nature and the seasons and giving back to the community around us.
Our retreat centre is set in 2.5 acres of grounds in a valley filled with olive and almond groves. Accommodation consists of seven twin bedrooms all with private ensuite bathrooms. We have renovated all rooms to a high standard using locally sourced materials, and are aiming to create a luxurious yet simple and understated feel. A large outdoor courtyard provides the main communal eating space, and several outdoor terraces offer a place to relax in the sun or the shade.
Situated at the heart of the complex, the swimming pool acts like a colourful meeting point – with the blue water combining with the green olive trees and the red soil.
Food plays a central role in both our yoga practice and life. We believe food should be varied, unprocessed and nourishing to promote energy and wellbeing. The food we serve is predominantly plant based with some vegetarian options. All produce we source and grow at YogApulia is local, seasonal and organic wherever possible.
Refreshments are also available throughout the day and include tea, coffee, water & fruit.
